Erin Craig is a Canadian Strength and Conditioning coach, who most recently served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Edmonton Elks in the Canadian Football League (CFL). In addition to her role with the Elks, she has made significant contributions to collegiate athletics in U SPORTS as the Defensive Backs Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach at Saint Mary's University (SMU) in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Coaching Career

Craig's journey into coaching began at the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic (CSCA) where she completed an internship working with multiple level athletes of various sports.[1] She attained her certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).[2]

She also worked as a personal trainer and SMU. Her passion led her to approach the Huskies' then-head coach, James Colzie III, in 2016, resulting in her appointment as the team's Director of Strength and Conditioning. Demonstrating versatility and commitment, she expanded her role to include on-field coaching responsibilities.[1]

In 2019, Craig took an opportunity in Grenoble, France as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Defensive Line Coach for 2 seasons, before heading back to Saint Mary's in 2021 to coach Defensive Backs.[1]

In 2023, Craig's expertise was recognized on a national level when she was invited to participate in the CFL Combine. There, she led player warm-ups and collaborated closely with defensive backs, showcasing her skills and dedication to advancing in the professional ranks.[3]

Soon after the 2023 National Combine, the Edmonton Elks hired Craig in April 2023 as their Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.[2]

Craig completed Strength and Conditioning internships during training Camp with the Montreal Alouettes (2018), Indianapolis Colts (2019), and Toronto Argonauts (2022). She also interned as a coaching assistant at Dartmouth College in 2019 during camp.[2]

Craig's multifaceted experience has established her as a respected figure in both professional and collegiate football coaching circles.

Playing Career

Craig played defensive back, returner and running back for the Halifax Xplosion of the Maritime Women's Football League (MWFL) from 2017-18, and from 2022-23. She played for the Alpine Thunder of the Women's division in the FFFA, a regional team in Grenoble, France from 2019-2020 as a defensive back, returner and running back.[1]

University

Craig attended Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2015.[1]
