How was DoD? The first fuckable character you've seen in there was Mrs Turner. And who gave MC a blowjob later than anyone? Her character. Who had sexual intercourse with MC later than anyone? Her character.
Moms/Stepmoms/Landladies are usually the final bosses of these VNs, unless it's 10 years in the making with new characters being added on and on.
I'd say don't blame the player, blame the game.
On the other hand, Midnight Paradise is one big mess, starting with Unity and not living up to the expectations. LewdLab was one of the most trusted/beloved developers when DoD was finished. That all is kinda gone now.
The community at this forums is way more toxic than 5 years ago, but the criticism towards him is justified, in a way.
BaDIK is in development for 5 years(and I will keep using them as an example) through which you got to bang every main LI, plotline thickens etc.
In here - 5 years and it still feels like we're around 40% of the story and got to bang a few side characters and a few LIs.

They also had their account shut down for a month, had to remove content from their page and had to deal with that.
I've seen NLT updates, and they are anywhere from 120MB to 170MB, so that's not a whole lot more

What kind of nonsense is this? NLT delivers updates twice a month and good content. And others once in 6 or -8 months will throw out a fake for 300 renderers and still resent that people are unhappy)))

In the end I think the updates content was still fine even though not worth waiting three months when you remember that he created similar updates in ONE month before. And I'm thinking about his huge text that now when things get spicy with Sofia we finally will get VERY close to Joyce. Well... Again, a lot of Sofia content, NOTHING to be seen of Joyce. If you take three months and deliver that it doesn't feel rewarding. I know other devs are slower or don't do shit but knowing that he has been on a 1-month update cycle the past year this felt underwhelming...
