It's sad that society devalues women to the point where we think it's awful to be like other women. I went through a phase like this when I was younger, but not anymore. I love being like the other girls! I also love the other girls themselves.
Society pits young girls against each other to be the prettiest one, or you aren't good enough. Have special talents or you're a failure. Look this way, but not that way. But ok - that way under this circumstance - because everyone is watching.
If you think some other girl is better, it's probably definitely true. Hate yourself and be better because we hate ugly. Learn your place, don't be a bitch.
It's not like you can leave anyway, you can't drive. Plus walking is out because you need a man to protect you.
Society: Ugh, what's with young women not knowing who they are, thinking they're special, and seeking validation from strangers? Get over yourself!

So many people are “quirky” that it’s almost became normal to be quirky. When everyone’s quirky… nobody is.
i got syndrome vibes from that
Damn the mic drop
You can always just be quirkier than the typical quirky people
We all go through it and it's fine. It's something to look back and cringe at. It becomes a problem when it's a woman in her 20s/30s and older going "I'm different and so much better than other girls."
As someone with a pale completion myself, I don't think people are purposely buying makeup three shades darker than their skin tone. Rather, it's because the paler you are, it can be hard to find one that not only matches well but stays matched and doesn't oxidize and turns a darker shade; or god forbid that weird orangey yellow color; later in the day. It honestly took me a few brands and different shades to find ones to match my skin.
darker people 🤝 pale people
not being able to find the right makeup shade
as someone who's pale, i also tend to underestimate how pale i am. i bought an incredibly light shade of foundation as i thought it'd be lighter than my skintone and could be used for gothic/similar makeup styles. it ended up being exactly my skintone. there's also the big issue of tanning. in my experience at least, i tan a lot in the summer and become super pale in the winter, so something that matches perfectly in july will probably a shade or two too dark in december
My sister is the same, she shops from the Korean brands 😊👍

Remember, don't be different for the sake of being different. Be yourself, be that a departure from the norm or more mainstream. Being yourself will almost always lead to being more fulfilled and feeling better about yourself
Being myself, and never giving in to peer pressure, or having a herd mentality, has made me different, and I've got far more out of life by being different. Far more.

15:50 Now I can't help but think about the lingering social stigma against men having well-trained glutes and not have their sexuality questioned. You always hear about women being praised for having nice behinds like it's supposed to be an exclusively feminine trait, but for men it's been mostly about rocking those 6-packs to "prove their masculinity". I'm all about seeing even more of a change in such views of both sexes - let women have chiseled abs and men have nice asses. It all requires rigorous workout and a balanced diet anyway.

On the one where he wrote "marry me" in the book and carved out a ring box, its not "quirky" to be like that. Most people who care about their books, no matter how girly or not-girly, would still be like "wtf did you do to my book?"
Given how normalized wine mommies (functional alcoholics) have become I would say the person sipping electrolyte water probably is a little bit better.
I hate the term functional alcoholic cause it's nonsense. Addiction is not "functional" and it shouldn't be normalized in any way.
As an alcoholic, I agree
as someone who gets nervous when my mom drinks more than half a glass of wine a week (for her health, not my safety), i dont think i would survive having a wine mommy, id die of pure stress
Yep, this
@@AIHumanEqualityI think you misunderstand the meaning of the term 'functional term'. It's less about actual functioning and more about not standing out or being perceived as an alcoholic due to being good at hiding your alcohol problem. That isn't meant to normalise alcoholism, it's just categorising how alcoholism characterises.

I don't. I think about the ones who conquered them. I'm not like other guys. /s
6:36 A quick google search reveals that jealous can mean BOTH envious and territorial making it still the correct word to use regardless.
Jealous has a few definitions:
“feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages.”
“feeling or showing suspicion of someone's unfaithfulness in a relationship.”
“fiercely protective or vigilant of one's rights or possessions.”
“(of God) demanding faithfulness and exclusive worship.”

i’m in middle school and am interested in kawaii fashion and mall goth fashion, and listen to emo music, scene music etc. ofc it gets lonely being the only one interested in that stuff, but being different doesn’t make you better than anyone? this person should learn that more people liking a style is a conventionally good thing, and it means that you can share something you like with more people. if my style got popular again on TikTok i’d be ECSTATIC..:(
6:00 Ive had the COMPLETE opposite thing everywhere i went. I really appreciate the one person who realized we all reach a point where we desperately need self-differentiation, and unfortunately, most of us start doing that in a toxic way. I think most of us also move past the toxicity as well. A lot of it is upbringing: girls are princesses in need of rescue; boys are strong and brave rescuers. It takes decades to break through that, if people do. Earlier in life, I didn't realize how I was hurting my own gender by trying to show how I wasn't like them. This was especially troubling when I realized I'd been conditioned to please men. Boys also should not grow up thinking they're constantly being compared to a bigger, stronger, more stoic male. No. That's not how any of this works. Just be yourself, pursue what makes you happy, and let's learn from each other.
Territorial... jealous... same thing really. And yeah she's wrong Jealousy has three definitions "hostile toward a rival or one believed to enjoy an advantage : envious, intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness, disposed to suspect rivalry or unfaithfulness, vigilant in guarding a possession"
I love how they say they aren't like other girls and then you search the keywords they say make them unique and find it more common.
Basic drinks are basic for a REASON. Pumpkin spice tastes good! Not just in lattes, but in general.
It's like vanilla. People really don't appreciate that vanilla is the basic default flavor BECAUSE it's pretty much universally enjoyable.
Lol, my "I'm not like other girls" phase lasted my entire life... turns out, I wasn't. I'm transmasc.
I am non-binary and I get where you are coming from. People think I am trying to be quirky, but this is how I am and have been for over 50 years This " I'm not like the other girls" trend is hard for those of us who really are Gender non-conforming and in the autism spectrum.

“I’m not like other girls” because I was literally just a man. An autistic man, at that. I luckily never actually had the phase I just knew that I was genuinely different and was always super confused as to why I was so bad at being like “other girls”. Turns out, I was never a girl to begin with.
@@jasonkatknappgen question but why are autistic people always trans or something. Like if you look up the stats it’s so much higher?
@@LilacMorelli I'm not sure if it's that we're more likely to be trans or more likely to be OUT as trans. Autistic people tend to already be used to being othered for various other reasons. And there are so many parts of our brains that work differently that neurotypical people, that it doesn't seem that far of a stretch that our gender might be different as well. We're also more likely to not understand, or be unwilling to adhere to, societal gender norms and just do our own thing which can be the disconnect between our assigned gender and our self perceived gender (or lack thereof).
even if youre "not like other girls", why not just share your interests with them? sometimes "basic" women (dumb term btw) love the same stuff as the "weird girls", and just are waiting for someone to bring it up.
They just don't make their personality all about it

Jealousy is for relationships. Like you’re jealous of your best friend’s other friends, or you’re jealous of your partner’s friends. So yeah it is a fear of losing someone, but it’s not really used for material possessions or experiences.
Envy is for things like possessions, lifestyles, etc. like you’re envious of your friend’s job or your sister’s computer.
